Key Challenges
The key challenge of this project was designing a workspace that balanced functionality with elegance, while simultaneously reflecting the industry expertise and global influence of JKT Group. The 9,000 sq. ft. space had to accommodate several departments, from logistics and sales to executive offices, while ensuring a cohesive and comfortable environment for employees. Additionally, the design needed to incorporate elements that subtly highlighted JKT Group’s extensive experience and product range, without overwhelming the overall aesthetic.
Concept and Design Philosophy
The design philosophy for JKT Group’s new office was built around the concept of “Global Legacy Meets Modern Functionality.” The goal was to create a professional space that reflects JKT Group’s status as a global leader in the food and feed industry while offering a modern, efficient working environment for its employees.
Key design concepts included:
- Sleek, Modern Aesthetic: Clean lines, open spaces, and contemporary furniture were used to create a polished, professional atmosphere.
- Industry-Inspired Elements: Subtle nods to JKT Group’s core business in oil seeds, nuts, pulses, and grains were integrated into the design through materials, textures, and visual elements.
- Sustainable Design: Wherever possible, eco-friendly materials and energy-efficient systems were used to align with JKT Group’s commitment to sustainable business practices.
Flexible Workspaces: The office was designed with flexibility in mind, ensuring that the layout could be adapted for different team needs, meetings, and events.
Entrance and Reception Area
Branding: A large custom-designed logo wall featuring JKT Group’s branding was placed behind the reception desk, highlighting the company’s global presence and over 45 years of industry experience.
Lighting: The use of modern, energy-efficient lighting systems ensured that the reception area remained well-lit without being too harsh. Warm lighting was used to create a welcoming atmosphere for both employees and visitors.
Open-Plan Office Layout
Workstations: Ergonomically designed workstations with ample storage were incorporated into the design to ensure employee comfort and productivity. Adjustable desks and chairs were provided to accommodate the needs of a diverse workforce.
Color Scheme and Materials:The office space featured a neutral color palette with accents of green and blue, reflecting JKT Group’s association with natural products like oil seeds and grains. Natural wood finishes were used for desks and partitions to maintain a connection to the company’s core industry.
Visual Elements: Large-format images of the food and feed products handled by JKT Group, such as oil seeds, nuts, and pulses, were incorporated into the office decor as subtle, artistic nods to the company’s expertise. These elements were used to inspire employees and remind them of the products they work with daily.
Executive Offices and Meeting Rooms
Executive Offices: The executive offices were designed with a blend of modern and traditional elements, using rich materials like leather, wood, and glass to create a professional yet comfortable space for senior management. The offices were spacious, with large windows providing natural light and offering views of the surrounding area.
Meeting Rooms: Equipped with state-of-the-art audio-visual technology, the meeting rooms were designed to support both in-person and virtual meetings with global partners. The design emphasized functionality and comfort, with flexible seating arrangements and high-quality acoustics to ensure productive discussions.
Brand Identity: Subtle branding elements were incorporated into the executive offices and meeting rooms, including custom-designed furniture and decor that reflected JKT Group’s global influence and expertise in the food industry.
Breakout Zones and Cafeteria
Breakout Zones: The breakout zones featured comfortable seating, greenery, and natural lighting to create a relaxed atmosphere. These areas were strategically placed throughout the office to encourage employees to take short breaks and recharge during their workday.
Cafeteria: The cafeteria was designed with a focus on comfort and functionality, offering a range of seating options for employees. The design emphasized the use of natural materials, with wooden tables and chairs and a color palette that echoed the company’s connection to the food industry. The space was also equipped with modern kitchen facilities to ensure that employees had access to healthy meals and refreshments.
